Feature 1

The Highland Hospice GO NUTS ART TRAIL. 23 x 5ft Red Squirrels were released into the Highlands over the summer of 2019.

All Sculpted, Moulded and Cast in our Highland UK studio.

Starting with a wax working model to get the feel and idea to life, we then started the actual sculpt itself at 5ft this was a case of scaling up the small model.

Once we had produced the master sculpt we invited the Hospice to come and see their ideas had come to life, as a bespoke sculpt we also added their logo to the design. Once all signed off at this stage we then started the moulding process, a fibreglass mould was produced for this particular subject but we do use silicone moulds in some other cases if we feel it will give a better overall finish. Once the mould was produced the casting started, as each one is hand cast and finished no 2 are totally the same giving a uniqueness to the casts. Once the casts were produced we then sprayed them with a good primmer for the artist to work on. As an artist myself, I design with the overall canvas in mind for the artists. I eliminate as many sharp angles as possible both from a moulding point of view as well as so the artists are not trying to paint in tight corners breaking down the flow of the artwork.

Go Nuts Art Trail 2018-2019

Reference

I first enquired about the possibility of an art trail back in 2018, after meeting with Scott himself he set my fears aside and answered all the questions I had as this was something very new for Highland Hospice.

During the commission Scott and Gleed3D went above and beyond with not only the work they provided but the priceless advice and sounding board for many of my worries and planning along the way.

We initially commissioned 20 squirrel sculptures and when I asked about adding in 3 to the contract, at last minute this was not a problem. All deadlines were met and where the Gleed3D team could make things easier for me with delivery dates, site visits and my board of directors asks they did with no issue.

It has been a delight to work with such a professional, experienced and knowledgable company who understood my budget, timescale and vision.

After the contract Scott and the Gleed3D team have kept in touch and have visited the trail and have shown great interest in the success of the trail for our charity.

I couldn’t recommend them highly enough. Having received quotes from other companies in the investigation stage, and speaking with other companies regarding art trails I am so pleased to have worked with Gleed3D and don’t believe we would have been half as successful without them. I plan to take on another art trail within the next 3 years and I will be contracting Gleed3D to work with again.
